How to Redesign Your Morning Mindset

It is 6am and your alarm clock appears to be more inhumane than ever.

There is a part of you that knows the rules – if you stay in bed, you’ll be running late or have no time for what you have promised yourself to do. You will feel you have failed again.

But staying in bed feels so good. Where’s my phone? Oh, it’s here. And here’s the only button I can see with my eyes closed and my finger perfectly trained to find it in no time. The snooze button – here it is. Well, it’s normal, everybody does it.

Yes, you can go to bed earlier. Yes, you can have three alarm clocks, including one, the loudest one, in a different room. Yes, you can light up the whole room to feel more awake. But… do you REALLY want every morning of your life to be such a struggle?

1. Maybe there is some part of you that wants to struggle every morning. It’s ok. The question is: why? How would your life change if there was no morning wake-up struggle?

2. Do you REALLY need to wake up early? Why have you always thought you have to? What would need to happen to make it unnecessary?

3. Have you ever woken up early feeling motivated and excited? What made you feel this way? What can make you feel this way?

Everyone is different. There may be hundreds of reasons why people feel the way you do. Take your time. Be honest with yourself. Don’t be afraid to discover something that is uncomfortable, embarrassing or weird. It’s already there, whether you acknowledge it or not. But if you do, it will be the beginning of an amazing journey and your mornings will never be the same.
